Save The Dates | Design

Throughout this semester I have been working on a number of design projects.  Amidst logo creations, photo sessions and editing I got to work on a personal project.  Save The Dates for Jeff and My wedding in May!  I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted, so I just made a bunch to choose from.  I’ll explain why I loved each one 🙂  All Designs created by Photography & Design By Jenny.  All Photos taken by Jana Candler Photography.
Keep in mind, this post is here so that you can see the process of designing a Save The Date.  This is how I did it, how many changes I made, the whole experience.  If you were to hire me to make a Save The Date, we’ll discuss theme, colors, expectations, pictures or no pictures…etc.
This is what I started with.  I LOVE this photo Jana took and wanted to see what I could do with it.
After the making the first one, my creative juices were flowing.  I chose my all time favorite photo from our shoot and tried to incorporate our wedding theme.  Teal and Neutral colors and Peacock feathers!!!  They say that your save the dates should be the first glimpse of what your wedding is going to look like…well here it is!
BUT I just didn’t like everything about that one either.  Jeff gave me an amazing proposal experience.  Long, wonderful, romantic story made short…We had spent the day with my family and then went hiking at Raven Cliff Falls.  At the top of the trail he had “Will You Marry Me?” carved in a tree!!  I wanted to work on “drawing” objects in Adobe Illustrator so I decided to make a FUN save the date that reflected how our journey to May 14th began.
Now I am TORN between the save the date that has our favorite picture and wedding theme on it and the fun, personal save the date that reflected his proposal.  My next design incorporated BOTH themes.
I really like what I’ve gotten so far…but I still kept thinking about the picture!  I want a picture on it!  In just a few more minutes I had created this!  It has a similar text layout of the ones I really like, used our colors, used a peacock feather, and our Photo!  I think I finally found a winner!!
