I go from speechless to 1000 words per minute when I think about what to say about Katie and Mark’s wedding day! The best place to start is THEM. Katie and Mark are such a lovable couple! Each time I photographed or spent time with them I went away smiling bigger and just overall impressed with them. At Katie’s bridal portraits my respect doubled for them as I learned how their lives were changing and growing. God has great plans for these two. Will it look like what they planned and expected- definitely not, but it will be GOOD.
Leading into their day, we had our expectations of an outdoor ceremony surrounded by spring trees. The forecast never gave us a chance, but it did give us a chance to reimagine. We looked at their venue in a whole new perspective, and let me tell you…it was GOOD. Plans are comfortable, change is hard, but what God has in store for us is better. When we can let go of our need for control, we open up the door for better things. Side note: the only way I even have words for this is because I’m incrementally learning this in my life right now. Once storms were predicted to cover the area during the ceremony time, Marion of Katie Williams Events put everyone into action to create an intimate ceremony space on the covered patio area. So many logistics were ironed out and everything flowed like it was the original plan.
That is not the end of the story! Even though their portraits and wedding turned out beautifully under the cover from rain, we did get bonus golden moments of sunlight. I did not see it coming. We already adjusted the timeline, reception toasts were about to start and the dance floor needed to open soon, BUT when the clouds break open after a day of rain, you run outside and bask in the sunlight. Does God have to send the sunshine? No…but he does care for His children and draw them close to Him in His unique ways. I feel my heart swell when I think of how these images tell the story of their day along with a much deeper story. This is a story that speaks love, trust, and joy in trials over them as they continue their lives together.
